Ninja Gaiden Trilogy: Ryu Hayabusa Slicing Onto New Platforms?

We’re surprised that it hasn’t happened yet, but now, it could happen.

Game Source Entertainment, a Hong Kong-based retailer, has listed something called Ninja Gaiden Trilogy on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. We’re not going to link either, as they have been wiped, but a Switch listing has been archived, and in the sidebar, under the New Products section, it refers to the PlayStation 4 listing as well. If what Game Source Entertainment says is true, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy would cost 40 dollars, and its release window is set to be March 2021 on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma was released in 2007 on PS3 (and it was further ported to the PlayStation Vita in February 2012 as Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus), which was a port of the 2004 original on Xbox. (Microsoft’s console got an updated version in 2005 as Ninja Gaiden Black.) Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was released on PlayStation 3 in October 2009 (and, again, it got a PS Vita port as Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus in late February 2013), and it was once again a port from the Microsoft console (Xbox 360, 2008). Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge was first launched on the Nintendo Wii U (2012/2013, depending on the region), and in April, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 also received it. Again, it was an enhanced port of the original, which saw daylight in March 2012 on PS3 and X360. Everything was developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo, respectively (except for the Wii U game, published by Nintendo).

The price looks quite fair for three games! However, Tomonobi Itagaki, the father of the Ninja Gaiden reboot, did not work on the third game. Still, it’d be a great idea to bring Ryu back… and if we are lucky, it will be announced by Koei Tecmo at Tokyo Game Show.
