Cyberpunk 2077’s Physical Copies Leaked, CD Projekt RED Acts Against It

The Polish developers don’t like how their (multiple times delayed) game’s physical copy got somehow out of hand.

On Reddit, an image was published that showed the PlayStation 4 physical edition of Cyberpunk 2077. This isn’t possible for many people (probably not even the media has received finalized, review-ready copies of the games, and if they have, then there have to be some strict NDAs, or non-disclosure agreements, on them…), as the game’s launch is still two weeks away, and until then, we might see one more delay. The leak brings up the question of „how was this possible?”, too.

CD Projekt RED doesn’t leave this without comment: DualShockers contacted them, and they said that they will „take legal action against anyone breaking embargo/street date.” So if you have the game somehow, be happy about it, but don’t make a fuss about it. At all. Have fun with it, but keep it to yourself. For now.

Still, there was someone who didn’t keep it to themselves: the ResetEra forums had someone share a twenty-minute gameplay video of Cyberpunk 2077, and what a surprise, this was recorded on a PlayStation 4 Pro, meaning the PS4 version was used to record the footage. The character creation was mostly skipped (even though you can customize even your teeth and your nails… we are not joking!), and it showcases some of the Nomad life path’s prologue. V’s car breaks down in a small town near Night City, breaks into a telecommunications tower, gets a radio signal, and that’s about it. Unfortunately, the original upload was set to private, and we weren’t able to find a new copy of it. (CDPR would likely not tolerate us posting the footage here!)

Cyberpunk 2077, unless it gets delayed again, will launch on December 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. The PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series will play the PS4/X1 version until the next-gen patch comes next year.
