I just beep it down and it’s time – this is pretty much what the courier thought when he stole the PlayStation 5 in plain view of those who ordered it.

The PlayStation 5 (in both of its versions: the PlayStation 5 Standard Edition and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – the latter lacks an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive) is now available in most important markets, and there are quite a lot of people who decided to get the new console delivered to their home instead of picking it up from one of the many retail stores to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, which is still a pandemic that strikes most of us in our daily lives.

However, Richard and Jenni Walker were unlucky in Oxfordshire. They ordered a PlayStation 5 for their son to give it to him for his 16th birthday. However, the courier who brought the PlayStation 5 to them, did something terrible: he got out of his car, walked to the back of the van, pulled the package out, and instead of attempting a real delivery, he just read the barcode to notice his employers that the console was delivered. However, that didn’t happen: he got back into his car and drove off, with the PlayStation 5 still in his possession.

The Walkers did not get the console. Instead, they received a refund and a 50 GBP gift voucher. Walker’s daughter brought the camera footage to the local depot, who promised that this person will be fired, but even then, the PlayStation 5 never arrived. Amazon didn’t even promise them one when they get new stock.

Amazon has since confirmed that the courier got fired, but it’s still not helping those who ordered a PlayStation 5 and only received kitchen appliances and other products that can’t be used for gaming. Amazon is investigating, but they got a lot of profit off the coronavirus, which won’t help the unfortunate customers whatsoever.
