PlayStation Plus: A Few Players Might Get A Refund

A few Sony employees can grab their coats (or… jackets), though… provided by the company itself!

We read on Reddit that a PlayStation Plus subscriber got a seemingly automated refund from Sony. The email they received said the following: „As a subscriber of PlayStation Plus, we will refund the purchase price of this product to your PlayStation Store Wallet as this is a PlayStation Plus monthly game. This will not affect your ability to play the game as we have not removed the game from your library.” The game in question is Maneater on the PlayStation 5, which is now going to be a PlayStation Plus title in January but only on PS5.

This is important, and the user explains why: „I got to keep the original license as I have access to both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions. So no, if I end Plus I do not lose the game. As far as the refunds go, as usual with something like this, it takes a bit of time to process. I do not have the funds back yet either and don’t expect to for a little bit, especially with the new year coming up. My account is US region.” Interesting. We have yet to see if this refund deal will be active elsewhere, but we don’t know the cut-off time for such a refund before a game gets added to the PlayStation Plus line-up.

And a few Sony employees have received a gift from the company to celebrate the launch of the PlayStation 5. They got a jacket that says „PS5 Launch Team” with a patch that says PlayStation 25th Anniversary. (Keep in mind that unlike in Japan – where the first PlayStation debuted in ’94 -, the West got the first PS in ’95!)

A lot of Sony employees might be getting it, as even Jan (Gabby) Llanillo, a senior member of Naughty Dog’s quality assurance team, has got one from Sony. Maybe it is just a question of time before each employee related to PlayStation gets the gift.
