Will Outriders Join Xbox Game Pass?

People Can Fly‘s and Square Enix‘ next game might be joining Microsoft’s subscription service.

Eurogamer noted what the Twitter account of Xbox Game Pass wrote – they tend to hint at upcoming big titles joining the service (whose Ultimate version also allows streaming games from the cloud), which recently also got no less than twenty games that were developed and/or published by Bethesda.

As usual, the news started with a fake name, Melissa McGamepass, who wrote in a fake email whether „anyone else has noticed a mysterious signal appearing in the distance lately.” The reply states: „am I the anomaly in this situation?” The whole scenario led to people predicting on Reddit that Outriders will also join Xbox Game Pass, going by the wording the emails have used. Seeing the loot-heavy co-op title join the service looks plausible, especially after Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard saying that it would have helped them a lot if Fallout 76 was part of the Game Pass.

Outriders, according to People Can Fly, isn’t going to be a live service title, but they also said that they won’t abandon it after it launched. The quality of your Internet connection, as well as the distance from the other players, will matter, as Outriders isn’t going to have dedicated servers. Instead, you will have to resort to P2P (peer-to-peer) connections. (We previously mentioned this along with the reason why the game uses so many cutscenes.)

Outriders will launch on April 1, and not as an April Fools joke, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Seeing how this game has Marvel links, we have to see if Square Enix can properly utilise the agreement they struck with Disney (who own Marvel), as Marvel’s Avengers is yet to fully show its potential.
