It seems Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica had some development involved in the game that is based on one of the bloodiest Iraq battles…
Six Days in Fallujah divided the community quite a lot when it was first announced in 2009, but it made the same rounds recently. David Jaffe, the creator of God of War and Twisted Metal, talked with John Garvin, the creative director of Days Gone in his newest podcast. Jaffe pulled the rug from under us with this question: „Did you know Six Days in Fallujah was actually in development at Sony Santa Monica for a while?” Garvin followed up by saying he was at the greenlight meeting, so he was a witness of Sony approving it.
Jaffe added, „And any time that game started to become something that they wanted it to be a real look at war, companies kind of said ‘yeah, thanks but no thanks.” Garvin’s response is fitting: „We’re in a climate where, man, you’re just stepping literally in landmines.” By that, he means the subjects that could make some people… let’s just say, triggered.
This is a surprise: we had no idea that Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica Studio was developing Six Days In Fallujah for a bit. However, going by what we heard, Sony likely decided to follow suit with the other companies and move on altogether, as the game wanted to take a real look at war. But now, Victura will publish the game, developed by Highwire Games, but we have yet to see what kind of feedback they will get IF they even get the game out the door. The Iraqi civilians have yet to be seen in the title, too.
Six Days in Fallujah will launch this year on PC (Steam) and consoles (no details on this front yet).
