Still steaming from the shaken Gunpowder Milkshake

MOVIE NEWS – This year the cineme projector pulls in another arsenal of bullets, with a selection of actresses spiced up the Gunpowder Milkshake action thriller. Director: Navot Papushado promises us slow-motion shots, close-ups (camera angles) and masterful focus.

Especially when assorted ladies get together and start ganging up on each other. Karen Gillan and Lena Headly – two really strong women that almost guarantee success. Lena is known to audiences from Game of Thrones (as Cersei Lannister), while Karen’s presence in the film market has strengthened the Jumanji brand with her soul (and navel).

The Gunpowder Milkshake trailer seemingly represens the soundtack – X gone give it to ya by DMX, who unfortunately died earlier this year, and there is also a chick-fighting championship all the time. The weapon crackling becomes almost a musical spice when the backing bars are played.

This female presence brings the expected spark and ‘visual punishments’, so we are facing a crispy, punchy storyline. Karen will be seen in full textile set now, so we are better to focus much more on her art of moves (like an ’art-movie’). She already proven herself in this area more than once (remember the superpower list in Jumanji).

The Gunpowder Milkshake PEGI-18 rating is probably reflecting to the cruel humour and a to the large dose of bouncing bullets (aggression). The latter are used to protect an innocent 8-year-old girl, as our favourite characters confront their own criminal organisation in a mother-daughter setup: to protect the young lady’s physical and mental integrity (what’s left of it!). And they don’t shy away from the car: they even get a super-good car for the night-time haul. Of course, the brutality factor is reduced by the fact that not all weapons are real. Sometimes a good rod of wood is all it takes, when beating a man to a pulp cannot be posponded any longer.

The bad-faces (yes, there will be leather -or leader- faces!) are going to deserve their fate, as fast (or as slow) as possible. Female warrior films have earned our respect before, so this promises to be another energetic, uplifting, punchy cocktail. StudioCanal (as distributor) strongly believes that they will create their own franchise with this title, so in case of success: we wouldn’t be left without a sequel (series -hot- shots). So Cheers!
