The New Suicide Squad Movie Has a Scene Inspired by Lollipop Chainsaw

MOVIE NEWS – James Gunn participated in the development of the game Lollipop Chainsaw and thought that it fit with the film’s scenes based on the DC universe.

You may remember Lollipop Chainsaw, a game that arrived a few years ago led by the charismatic and peculiar Suda 51. We took control of a cheerleader who wore her boyfriend’s head as a keychain, and we carried a massive chainsaw with which to kill hordes of zombies. That adventure has served as inspiration for The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn, starring some of the most badass characters in the DC universe.

What you probably did not know is that James Gunn was a designer, writer and producer of that Suda 51 extravaganza, and that, as the filmmaker now confesses, he has served as inspiration for some of the scenes in the film, which has Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) as the lead.

“I made a game called Lollipop Chainsaw together with Suda in Japan. I always liked that hearts and pretty little things came out of people interspersed with blood. A lot comes from there, from mixing the most horrible gore with the idealized way Harley sees life,” says Gunn in an interview with Collider, where he also points out that this sequence was planned from the initial drafts.

Speaking of this, we remember that next year the launch of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is scheduled, a video game developed by Rocksteady (Batman Arkham) and with which you can take control of quirky characters such as King Shark or Harley Quinn herself to face the heroes of DC.
