The protagonist of Forspoken drops hints about new features coming soon

Forspoken creator Square Enix will also hold a digital event at Tokyo Game Show 2021. Will we get to see “Project Athia“? We’re also just days away from the PS5 PlayStation Showcase.

The event season is well underway… or at least it would be if it wasn’t an epidemic, but there are still a few critical dates on the calendar to keep an eye out for. This week sees the new PS5-focused PlayStation Showcase, where fans of the Tokyo-based company will be able to hear about games such as Horizon: Forbidden West and even the upcoming God of War 2. Still, there will also be space for third-party games such as Square Enix’s Forspoken.

The open-world RPG starring Charlie’s Angels actress Ella Balinska, formerly known as Project Athia, is one of the most mysterious and anticipated titles in PlayStation 5’s 2022 line-up. With just days to go until the console’s games-focused PlayStation Showcase, the actress, who plays Frey Holland, has already shared a preview of the upcoming games on her Instagram account.

“Forspoken content pending…” the actress comments on the post. It’s a post hinting at what’s new with the game, which is set to launch on PlayStation Digital on Thursday 9 September at 22:00 (CEST). But it is also possible that the game will be released at a completely different event. The Tokyo Game Show 2021 will open at the end of September, including a 50-minute Square Enix conference focusing on the most anticipated games.

While the company hasn’t named any names in advance, Forspoken would be one of the apparent candidates to appear during the gala, either with a new game menu or a release date. As it stands, the game is expected to debut on PC and PS5 in early 2022. The project is so ambitious that Square Enix says they want to deliver the best graphics ever seen in an open world.
