Prophet: Jake Gyllenhaal to Be a Superhero for Tyler Rake Director

MOVIE NEWS – Actor Jake Gyllenhaal will be an “anti-Captain America” in “Prophet”, an adaptation by Sam Hargrave (Tyler Rake) of the comic books by Rob Liefeld. The latter is responsible for the character of Deadpool. A project that is very appealing and that will soon go into production.

An accurate shower of projects. American actor Jake Gyllenhaal is currently going full speed ahead and should occupy our screens intensively with a series of films that we are looking forward to. First, Antoine Fuqua’s The Guilty is a good remake of the Danish film of the same name. Available on Netflix, the actor shows his ability to hold a thriller together with his presence alone.

Coming soon, and for the moment scheduled in France for 23 February 2022, is Michael Bay’s Ambulance. In this one, Jake Gyllenhaal will play the lead role alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Expectations are high for this heist film, which should leave behind the fun but quickly tiring mayhem seen in 6 Underground. Finally, the actor is announced as a superhero in Sam Hargrave’s new film, which should be called Prophet, as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter.

The actor again in a superhero movie

Sam Hargrave made a name for himself with Tyler Rake, a gritty and somewhat successful action film starring Chris Hemsworth. A great success on Netflix led him to direct a sequel, which we should discover in 2022. This one is currently in production, and the director will then take on Prophet with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Prophet will be adapted from a comic book created by Deadpool co-writer Rob Liefeld. The film will tell the story of John Prophet, a man with superhuman powers who was the subject of German experiments during World War II. The boss of Studio 8, the production company behind the project, explained the process:

We’ve been aiming to work with Jake and Sam for a while now, so we’re very excited to work with them on this unique action film finally. I can’t wait to see what they come up with to bring this story to the screen. A story that we are sure will stand out for its power, emotion and unique visual identity.
