League of Legends: “Project L” Will Be A Team-Based Fighting Game [VIDEO]

Riot Games has announced important news about the new League of Legends game but warns that it won’t be ready this year or next.

In recent weeks, we’ve received a lot of information about new adventure games set in the League of Legends universe, some of which have already been released. But that’s far from all that’s being worked on in the Riot Games kitchen. A few hours ago, we received important news about a still-early-stage brawler called Project L.

The team in charge of the project shared a “vertical slice”, a concept video that is a possible presentation of the game’s final look before all the content, such as characters and scenarios, is finalized.

“Our vertical slice might give you the sense that the game is ready, but we actually still have a lot of work ahead of us.”

“So, although we’ve made a great deal of progress, we will not be shipping in 2021 or 2022,” warns Project L director and executive producer Tom Cannon.

So what does Riot Games want? To develop the highest quality fighting game possible so that the community can play it for years or decades to come. To do this, the team behind the game want to spend as much time as possible, but they’ve already decided that Project L will be a team-based fighting game, where you’ll have to create and manage a team of two different champions. The video shows off the new art style chosen for the production and explains that the controls are easy to learn but challenging to master.

“Well we’re almost locked in on the stuff that makes a game a game (core gameplay, controls, art direction, etc.) but we still need to do things like build out a full roster of champions, design stages, add menus and UI, create ranking systems, and more,” adds Tom Cannon, asking for patience from those interested in the game.
