Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection: Single-Player Only?

Is it becoming a fashion for re-releases and remakes of older games to lack multiplayer elements?

We reported the other day on the ESRB review of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which is the PlayStation 5 and PC compilation of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (which was essentially a standalone add-on to UC4, but without Nathan Drake), announced in September. Two games are heading from PlayStation 4 to two other platforms, but perhaps not in their entirety.

VGC reported that the review of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection doesn’t mention a multiplayer element, which was there in Uncharted 4. Why? “No interactive elements”, meaning players can’t communicate or play with each other. By the way, it got a T rating, meaning it’s recommended for teens (and above age group) because of blood, language, violence, and alcohol and tobacco use.

At the time of the announcement in September, Sony said: “This brand-new remastered bundle includes Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, featuring Nathan Drake as he hunts for Captain Avery’s long-lost treasure, setting off for one final far-flung adventure across the jungles of Madagascar to a long lost pirate colony of Libertalia. It also includes Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which chronicles Chloe Frazer’s breakout exploits as she moves from frenemy to hero. Enlisting the assistance of renowned mercenary Nadine Ross, Chloe ventures to India’s Western Ghats to locate the Golden Tusk of Ganesh. We’re pretty excited that more players will get the chance to meet (and fall in love with) Nathan, Chloe, Nadine, and the rest of the cast in the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.” So we’re talking about the usual single-player-centric adventure games from Sony.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be released for PlayStation 5 in early 2022. We wouldn’t be surprised if the PS5 version might have a multiplayer section, but the PC release won’t. It will come a little later (hopefully not in a year or two…) after the console version and is being made by Iron Galaxy.
