The Producers Of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Are Already Talking About A Part 2, With Radical Visuals

MOVIE NEWS – Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse – Part One producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord promise an epic story, epic visuals and reveal the release date for the second part.

The dazzling new trailer for Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse – Part One not only confirmed the return of several characters, including Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2099 but also revealed that work is already underway on the sequel, as the trailer concluded with “Part One.” Producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller recently spoke about Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse being split into two parts and revealed that Part Two will hit cinemas in 2023.

“Miles’ story is an epic. We wrote what we thought the story needed to be, and to our surprise we realized it was two movies instead of one. We’re working on them both as we speak. Part Two will be out sometime in 2023. We will sleep again in 2024.”

It looks like the scope of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is going to be grandiose, even more epic than the immensely talented Lord and Miller ever expected, as Miles’ continuing adventures in the madness of the multiverse are split into two films. The sheer depth of the story being told is sure to include more Spider-Man, and while recent footage has confirmed the return of Oscar Isaac’s futuristic wall-crawler Miguel O’Hara as Spider-Man 2099 and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy as Spider-Woman, there’s no doubt that there will be many more Spider-versions, with Lord and Miller boasting the inclusion of old and new faces.

“Miles will reunite with some old friends and meet… a lot of new ones.”

While in the first Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Miles stayed in his own dimension while the other versions visited him; the trailer reveals that this time it will be Miles who travels. Now, the producing duo of Lord and Miller have also mentioned the visuals that come with bringing the dimensions to life, saying…

“Every dimension looks and feels radically different from all the others. They all look like they were drawn by a different artist.”

Much praise has been given to the visual effects of the first instalment, and rightly so, as the film managed to create a bright, energetic, layered experience, bringing the comics to life in a way that no one has ever done before. As such, expectations for the sequel are ridiculously high, but it seems Lord, Miller, and the rest of the creative team have found a way to meet and perhaps even exceed them, and the trailer just released gives us a glimpse into the ‘radically different’ dimensions.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse – Part One is scheduled to be released in the US on October 7, 2022.
