Weird West: We Might Have The Last Delay Of The Year [VIDEO]

We can say on December 23 what the final significant Weird West delay could be for 2021, although the previously planned release date itself wasn’t set to be the current year (after a previous delay).

Wolfeye Studios, and the to-be publisher Devolver Digital, delayed Weird West again (as there previously was a delay). It means the January 11 release date is no longer on the table. Let’s see what Devolver says about this new delay: “Devolver Digital and Wolfeye Studios today announced that to make Weird West the most immersive and well, weird, journey through the West as possible, the game will now be launching across PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 31, 2022.

Weird West is an impressively deep mix of action RPG and immersive sim elements built on the Wolfeye team’s experience with Dishonored and Prey. Early feedback is fantastic, but, as is the case with any immersive sim, there are a lot of variables that can lead to unintended consequences. More time is needed to deliver an experience that the community expects from Wolfeye and Devolver. The team understands that this might be a disappointment to folks but want to ensure that the game they’ve worked on for years is launched in the best form possible,” the publisher wrote. If you wonder what an immersive sim is, an example of it could be BioShock.

Weird West is thus launching on the last day of the current fiscal year (which ends on March 31) on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam), meaning Devolver Digital wants to get some of its money back in this fiscal year before the next one starts on April 1. It makes sense, though. The video below features a message from Raphael Colantonio, Weird West’s creative director.
