HBO’s The Last Of Us Series Won’t Arrive In 2022

MOVIE NEWS – Although the platform has announced no specific date, it has already been ruled out that The Last of Us will premiere this year.

It’s becoming more and more common for video games to be adapted to other formats, and The Last of Us franchise is no exception to this trend. HBO’s series featuring Joel and Ellie have attracted audiences with official footage recreating the game’s dilapidated environment, with some episodes directed by Neil Druckmann himself.

“We haven’t announced an air date yet. But it’s not 2022…” – Casey Bloys

The production company has not yet announced a release date for the adaptation of The Last of Us but has already stated that it will not be released in 2022. HBO programming president Casey Bloys said this during a Q&A with The Hollywood Reporter. He also answered other questions about some of the series HBO has in the works but only mentioned this game adaptation in that context,

“The Last of Us is shooting right now in Canada. We haven’t announced an air date yet. But it’s not 2022. They’re still shooting in Calgary,” Bloys told THR. So the small-screen version of Joel and Ellie is still a while away, although we’ve already added several familiar faces to the cast, including Anna Torvo as Tess and Gabriel Luna as Tommy.

Storm Reid has also been confirmed as Riley. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see what HBO can do with this incredible story…
