Morbius Star Jared Leto Comments On Spider-Man Crossover Rumours

MOVIE NEWS – Jared Leto has responded to reports of a Morbius and Spider-Man crossover as he waits for his Marvel movie to debut finally.

The question that found Jared Leto is a valid one. Spider-Man: No Way Home made fans’ dream scenario of multiple Spider-Men coming together in one universe over time to take on the character’s most iconic adversaries from his on-screen adventures a reality. While it served to deliver the biggest Spider-Man movie of all time for Sony and Marvel Studios, the film has made such an impact on audiences that they are now speculating about every possible crossover that could happen soon. With Morbius being one of the next Marvel movies to hit theatres, there are obviously many questions about whether Tom Holland or even another Spider-Man, could appear in it…

Sony is developing its own Spider-Man universe with characters such as Venom, Morbius and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter, but while Spider-Man was seen as a graffiti-covered image on a wall in the trailer for Morbius, the web-slinger has yet to appear in person in any of Sony’s recent films. This has obviously led to some serious anticipation that Spider-Man will make an appearance at some point, and the real question is when that will be and who will be wearing the suit.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight recently, Morbius star Jared Leto addressed the only way – very vaguely – that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could appear in the upcoming film. Leto said:

“I’ll tell you, I would love to get in the ring with Spider-Man. I think Tom Holland is amazing, and we’d make quite a dynamic duo.”

The recent trailers for Morbius have caused much speculation as to where exactly the film sits in relation to other Marvel films. Marvel Studios has done a lot to keep the continuity of the MCU in check, with very minor exceptions, unlike the DCEU, which has branched off in so many directions that it’s hard to figure out which DC movies belong and which don’t. With Tom Holland also appearing in Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Michael Keaton in Morbius as Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, there are many questions about where Morbius is precisely and Sony’s new universe sit concerning the MCU.

Of course, there’s a good chance that our questions will be answered once Jared Leto’s Morbius is finally in cinemas, but after another delay, the film is now only due out on 1 April. Whether or not Spider-Man will be in the movie – with Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire or whoever else – there’s no doubt that Sony’s upcoming films will make great use of the heights Spider-Man reached in his latest MCU adventure, and even as one of the generally lesser-known Marvel characters, Morbius will be the first to experience the box office impact of the Spider-Man connection.
