Horizon: Forbidden West Finally Implements A Long-Awaited Feature

In the new update of Horizon: Forbidden West we’ll finally be able to turn off a very annoying feature of the Guerrilla’s game on PS4 and PS5.

Horizon: Forbidden West continues to receive improvements from the team at Guerrilla Games as it heads into its second month of release. The studio continues to polish the overall state and fix bugs that occur in its open world, and the latest update was very much focused on this.

However, there is one thing that has caught a lot of attention regarding this 1.09 patch, over and above the bug fixes in the progress of missions or the reduction of load times in previous generation. PS4 and PS5 users can finally remove the animations when picking up items, as a new item picker is now available.

This is something that was very much in demand by those who roam the open world and spend many hours collecting with Aloy. By default, the protagonist will have to bend down and pick up the item every time the button is pressed, something that frustrated impatient players because it’s a mechanic that’s done constantly, both when defeating machines and when traversing the map.

This new quality of life feature also takes effect when on a mount, allowing you to collect items without stopping at any point. To access the selector, go to Settings, General and select your preferred option in the submenu for these animations, which offers the option to turn them on or off.

Despite its early success, Guerrilla will continue to make improvements of this kind to their game in the coming weeks, and indeed they are aware that they still have some issues to resolve with strange object reflections. Be that as it may, it’s nothing to stop you from having a good experience with a title that packs a lot of goodness, as we told you in our Horizon: Forbidden West review.
