Keanu Reeves News at San Diego Comic-Con: He’ll be Talking About His BRZRKR Comic and the Netflix Series!

CINEMA NEWS – Keanu Reeves will also be on the BRZRKR panel, where he will talk about the comic book series and the planned Netflix adaptation. Keanu Reeves’ BRZRKR comic book is already a stunning success: it surpasses the Kickstarter goal in just one day!

Keanu Reeves is gearing up for Comic-Con again. According to American IGN, the star of John Wick will headline the “Keanu Reeves’ BRZRKR: The Immortal Saga Continues” panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. The panel will be on Friday, July 22nd, from 3:00 to 4:00. Reeves will be joined by BRZRKR co-writer and co-creator Matt Kindt, screenwriter Mattson Tomlin of the upcoming film adaptation, BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon, BOOM! Studios executive editor Eric Harburn and BOOM! Studios President of Development Stephen Christy.

BRZRKR is a 12-part comic series about an immortal warrior and his battles through the ages. Last year, it was announced that the comic would be made into a live-action feature film on Netflix, starring Reeves and that the film would be R-rated. An anime series based on the comic book is also in the works. You can read the official description of the series below.

“BRZRKR is a brutally epic saga of an immortal warrior’s 80,000-year struggle through the ages. The man known only as “B” is half-mortal, half-god, cursed and driven to violence… even at the cost of his sanity. But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found refuge – working for the US government to fight battles that are too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In return, B gets the one thing he wants – the truth about his infinite blood-soaked existence… and how to end it.”

Two adaptations of BRZRKR are coming to Netflix

“We are working with Netflix, who have proven to be very good minds,” Reeves said about the film and anime series based on BRZRKR to in his interview with Collider. “They’re allowing us to do an R-rated story, which is really cool. My ambition or hope is that we don’t do a movie version of the comic, that we have things in common, definitely the main character and his kind of rules, but that it’s different we can also take the franchise to other places.”

He also added about the anime series:

“We’re talking to a few different animation companies and trying to figure it out. And again, for me, I hope they inspire and influence… there are certain rules to the story, but I want other creators to do their own version. So I’m hoping to create another version of a metaverse where different storytellers use one set of rules but go to different places with it. We are working on trying to create a company with the animation and have hired a writer for the film, Mattson Tomlin. He is a very good head and is just starting to put things together. We are at this point.”

Since then, there haven’t been many updates on the progress of the film and anime, but with BRZRKR getting his own panel at SDCC, there’s a good chance that there will be some important news regarding these projects Reeves will share with fans.
