Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – We Might’ve Just Got The Release Date!

Two Star Wars Jedi: Survivor books are in the works, leading some fans to believe that the upcoming sequel could be released in the spring of 2023.

Two books were announced on the official Star Wars account a few days ago. The first, Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars, tells an “original story” in which Cal Kestis and the rest of the Mantis crew take part in an adventure “set between Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor”. That’s roughly five years apart, so it’s still unclear exactly when the book will take place in the Star Wars timeline, but we do know from author Sam Maggs that Nightsister Merrin will make an appearance.

The second book is The Art of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which will be “a chronicle of the game’s development”. We can expect to see concept art, creator commentary and more behind-the-scenes details in this stunning hardcover volume.

While no release date for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has yet been set beyond the 2023 target, fans are already speculating that these books mean we can expect something early next year. Battle Scars will be released on March 7, 2023, while the artbook will arrive on May 2. This could easily hint that the game’s planned release date will be sometime in the spring – a prequel novel sets the stage for the game and could quickly be followed by an April release, with the spoiler-filled artbook rounding things off next month.

Alternatively, an artbook release on May 2 could be the perfect preparation for the game’s Star Wars Day release, which falls two days later.

All this is speculation, even if it is a somewhat educated guess. Even if the plans are indeed for a spring release, there’s every chance the game will be delayed, and beyond the teaser trailer from this year’s Star Wars Celebration, we haven’t seen much of it yet.

Regardless, it’s a relatively solid theory, one shared by reporter Jeff Grubb, who wrote on Twitter that the “book that takes place between Fallen Order and Survivor is coming in March. So is the game.”

EA has previously hinted that the game could launch after the end of the financial year. That would be March 2023, just for the record, so the waters are a bit murky, but an April or May release has undoubtedly not been ruled out.
