And a video suggests that the game will also be released for one of the previous generation consoles, but in this case, we’re rather doubtful…
Let’s start with the system requirements. The problem is that Motive (who we now know are working on Tony Stark after Isaac Clarke, as they are officially developing an Iron Man game) and Electronic Arts have not indicated what resolution and frame rate can the minimum and recommended system requirements can achieve. What an amateur mistake.
Minimum system requirements:
- 64-bit operating system and processor required
- Operating system: Windows 10 or 11 x64 (version number not disclosed)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, or better
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700, or better
- DirectX: DX12
- Free storage: 50 GB
- Broadband Internet connection (almost certainly due to Denuvo DRM, too)
Recommended system requirements:
- 64-bit operating system and processor required
- Operating system: Windows 10 or 11 x64 (version number not disclosed)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, or better
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, or better
- DirectX: DX12
- Free storage: 50 GB
- Broadband Internet connection
That’s pretty hefty, but it’s surprising that they didn’t increase the memory requirements between the minimum and recommended system requirements. However, a relatively modern computer will be needed to run the remake on the Frostbite engine, as we’re seeing newer models mainly around the processor. And who knows, maybe these are only required for 1080p/30 FPS and 1080p/60 FPS, although the recommended system requirements already include a card capable of ray tracing.
And the weird thing is that the trailer uploaded to PlayStation’s YouTube channel in Latin America also features a PlayStation 4 logo. Capcom has declared that Resident Evil 4 Remake will get a PS4 version, but there’s been no mention of such a port for the Dead Space Remake. It seems to be a mistake (Eurogamer thinks likewise). The game will arrive on January 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
