Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has a surprisingly small file size, as pre-orderers can start pre-loading now.

 

 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have a surprisingly small storage space, as the game’s file size has now been revealed. Some Call of Duty games are notorious for taking up vast amounts of storage space. For example, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War requires over 200 GB of storage space on PS5. Users have been complaining about bloating file sizes for some time.

Call of Duty fans should note that the Modern Warfare 2 preload is already live.

Players can play the campaign from tomorrow, while the full game will be released next week on October 28. We now have a better idea of how much space MW2 will take up before we decide to pre-order the game.

PlayStation Game Size revealed on Twitter that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will take up 36.201 GB of storage space on PS5. This file size represents version 1.02 of the game and is shockingly low for a Call of Duty title. The latest Call of Duty games have separate bundles for the campaign, multiplayer and cooperative components, allowing users to delete files for game modes they no longer wish to play.

PlayStation Game Size reveals that Modern Warfare 2 comes with two campaign packs, requiring 8.105 GB and 8.609 GB of storage space. The multiplayer pack requires 4.959 GB of storage space, while the Spec Ops co-op mode requires just 2.619 GB.

The final package is for Warzone 2.0, which requires an additional 2,541 GB of storage.

Warzone 2.0 is scheduled for release next month, on November 16, and Activision has confirmed that it will be available for download separately from the base Modern Warfare 2. However, it appears that Warzone 2.0 may be an optional bundle for MW2 rather than a completely separate app. Despite this, the file size of these modes is significantly smaller than their Modern Warfare counterparts. So users probably won’t have to make too much space on their console to download them.

PlayStation Game Size usually publishes the file sizes of upcoming games shortly before release. It has been confirmed that Gotham Knights on PS5 will take up around 40GB, while the PS4 version of God of War Ragnarok will take up over 90GB.
