God Of War: Ragnarök Is Destined To Be The Best PlayStation 4 Game!

It contradicts what Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said earlier.

In the past, several games were announced for PlayStation 5 only (and only Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart remained PS5-exclusive), while he said it was time to move on from the PlayStation 4, and that’s why Sony was making games for the new console. God of War: Ragnarök also looked more like a PlayStation 5-only game when it was announced. It’s no wonder that Bruno Velazquez, the animation director at Sony Santa Monica who is developing the game, had to clarify what their position was in an interview with Eurogamer:

“When it comes to Ragnarök, from the very get-go, we knew this would be a PlayStation 4 game because we wanted to support the fanbase. We had so many people that had enjoyed the game on PlayStation 4. We’re going to make this the best PS4 game we can make. Our goal was to surpass God of War 2018 in every way possible. Having the PlayStation 5 version is the icing on the cake. So our goal is let’s make the best PlayStation 4 game, push on fidelity and content, and bring the story to a close that we started – that was our primary goal. With the PlayStation 5, we have haptic feedback, 3D audio, a higher frame rate, and better graphics and textures. That’s the icing on the cake. Of course, the PlayStation 5 version will be the best way to experience it, but the PlayStation 4 [version] will be one of the games that push that console to the max. Taking that philosophy and approach into it helped us to set the goalposts for ourselves, that we want to make a great PlayStation 4 and an even better PlayStation 5 experience,” Velazquez said.

Graphics options will also be available on PlayStation 5. Favor Resolution will have a frame rate of 30 FPS at native 4K resolution, while Favor Performance will give 60 FPS at dynamic 4K. Those with a VRR-capable display and HDMI 2.1 input will get 4K and 60 FPS for Favor Resolution, while Favor Performance will get “up to” 120 FPS at 4K.

God of War: Ragnarök is coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on November 9.
