The Witcher: A New Saga Begins: Game’s Director Has Been Revealed!

We have the director for The Witcher: A New Saga Begins, but not much else is known about CD Projekt RED’s project.

Today, Sebastian Kalemba confirmed some excellent news for his career via his personal Twitter account. He’s taking over the directing reins on The Witcher: A New Saga Begins. This will be the new instalment in the franchise, which, let’s not forget, is not called The Witcher 4.

“I’m directing the new Witcher Saga.”

“Since joining CD Projekt RED I believe nothing is impossible and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for. I’m proud to be part of CDPR and work with such a talented and passionate team.”

Kalemba joined the makers of Cyberpunk 2077 eight years ago and has worked his way through the animation team. Last September, he took on the role of creative director for an unnamed project for the Polish company. He’s stepping down to take the helm of what could be CD Projekt RED’s most ambitious project yet.

What about the new The Witcher?

Although we can now at least put a face to it, the truth is that there are still very few details about the project. This includes everything to do with the story – beyond the promise of a new trilogy – , the scripts and, of course, the release date. All we know is that it will be based on the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine. But let’s look on the bright side! We can speculate a lot about the future of this beloved IP…

The Witcher: A New Saga Begins is not the only upcoming video game from the franchise.

A few days ago, CDPR surprised us with the announcement of the first remake of The Witcher, being developed from the ground up by Fool’s Theory, a team of veterans of the action RPG series. In addition to these titles, other projects have been in the works at the Polish company for weeks.

Without leaving the world of Riverside’s Geralt, news broke last Friday that Henry Cavill is leaving the lead role in the Netflix series The Witcher.
