Oni: Road To Be The Mightiest Oni: Release Date And Switch Port [VIDEO]

During the Nintendo Indie World broadcast, Clouded Leopard Entertainment (the publisher) and Kenei Design confirmed that their game is coming to Switch.

So far, the official word on the 3D action game was that it would be coming to PlayStation 5, PC (Steam) and PlayStation 4, but as it’s a Japanese developer, it’s no surprise that Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni is coming to Nintendo Switch alongside PlayStation and the increasingly popular PC. Xbox users will be left out of it (Microsoft isn’t much of a household name in Japan outside Windows, although the Xbox Series S, for example, has not been selling poorly…).

At the end of July, we wrote: “First, let’s start with the cast of ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni. The director, art director and designer is Kenei Hayama (who thus named the studio after himself), the producer is Masami Yamamoto, the programmer is Shusuke Muraishi, the animation is by Kenji Tokumori, the game design comes from Sugano Yuzo, Satoshi Matsuura does the character designs, and Hiromi Yanagi is the game’s composer.

Here’s Clouded Leopard Entertainment’s overview: “Break your enemy’s heart to reclaim your pride. Kuuta, a demon, once challenged a man to a battle and was defeated. At last, he arrives at Kisejima Island. He and his partner Kazemaru, whom he met on the island, overcome their ordeal as one, gaining new strength along the way. This time, will the duo be able to achieve victory? Join Kuuta on his adventure to get revenge against Momotaro, a demon masquerading as a man.

This game was developed by the up-and-coming studio Kenei Design. After designing artwork for Mistwalker, developer of Terra Battle and Fantasian, Kenei Design’s president, Kenei Hayama, decided to go solo. After assembling a dev team and creating his style of games, Mr Hayama’s exceptional design skills caught the attention of the Shueisha Game Creators Camp staff, and ONIwas officially selected for their project.

In addition, Masami Yamamoto has joined the project as a producer. Mr. Yamamoto presided over the creator auditions for Let’s Play Games! 2006 and PlayStation C.A.M.P. held at Sony Interactive Entertainment, and has been involved in numerous unique projects such as the What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord? series and Tokyo Jungle. After he left the company to start his own EPIGRAsm Inc., he was offered the position of producer for ONI by Mr Hayama. Mr Yamamoto also became an executive advisor for the Shueisha Game Creators Camp, taking on a new challenge in the field of indie games.””

Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni is coming in 2023 instead of 2022 (as previously scheduled), on March 9 for PlayStation 5, PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
