MOVIE NEWS – The second episode of the HBO series The Last of Us features an Easter egg about Naughty Dog’s previous title, Uncharted 4.

WARNING! This article contains spoilers for Uncharted 4 and episode 2 of The Last of Us series.

In the latest episode of HBO’s The Last of Us, an Easter egg related to the Uncharted franchise was revealed. The latest adaptation of the popular horror video game got off to a fantastic start. Critics and fans alike gave it excellent reviews – and we loved it. Currently, The Last of Us is the second highest-grossing series on HBO.

The fact that Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog, is one of the series’ executive producers undoubtedly plays a significant role in the success of the TV adaptation.

Druckmann made his directorial debut with the latest episode of the TV series. He incorporated an Easter egg from Naughty Dog’s other series, Uncharted.

The Last of Us follows the source material exceptionally closely. Doing so adds world-building and lore aspects that are not present in the video game. Neil Druckmann decided to share that the design of Tess’s lighter in Episode 2 of The Last of Us, which premiered yesterday, was actually modelled after Sam Drake’s lighter in Uncharted 4. Druckmann also added that the prop makers were kind enough to make a replica for Troy Baker – aka Sam, as well as Joel’s voice actor.

So far, The Last of Us has lived up to fan expectations. It’s even exceeding them – which will hopefully become the industry standard for video game adaptations. The TV series adaptation comes at the perfect time. The Last of Us is approaching its 10th anniversary. It looks like Naughty Dog and HBO have much more in store for fans in the coming weeks.
