Diablo IV: A Cute Reward For Beta Players; System Requirements [VIDEO]

Blizzard’s next game has surprisingly low PC system requirements.

But first, let’s talk about the Diablo IV open beta, which will be here soon. We’ve written about when before. We also mentioned that there would be a pretty low level cap. However, those who reach level 20 will get a pretty sweet reward in the full game, as they’ll be rewarded with a wolf cub backpack. For how brutal Diablo can be, it is a surprising departure from that style. Blizzard showed this off in a live broadcast, and a demonstration was embedded from Twitter. There’s another reward, by the way, and that’s a badge: early voyager. Perhaps it is to distract attention from what The Washington Post wrote. (A crunch hit studio employees to finish the game on time…)

But let’s also mention the system requirements for the Diablo IV beta on PC:

Minimum system requirements – 1080p resolution, 720p rendering resolution, low graphics preset, 30 FPS frame rate:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64 (no version number is mentioned)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8100 or better.
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon R9 280, or better
  • DirectX: DX12
  • Free storage: 45 GB
  • Internet connection

Recommended system requirements – 1080p resolution, medium graphics preset, 60 FPS frame rate:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 x64 (no version number mentioned)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4670K or AMD R3-1300X or better
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 370 or better
  • DirectX: DX12
  • Free storage: 45 GB
  • Internet connection

With this list, it’s like Blizzard is stuck in 2014 with the system requirements (admittedly, some people have been using even older hardware since then), so it’s nice of them. The RAM requirement is a bit out of line, but putting that much memory in the machine is not expensive.
