Star Wars KOTOR Remake Would Put More Emphasis on the Jedi Code?

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is a long-awaited game for fans, which could put more emphasis on the Jedi Code than the original game. The original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is generally considered to be one of, if not the best Star Wars game ever. However, there are many details in the game that could be updated in the planned remake.

In the Star Wars universe, the Jedi Code is often mentioned by the characters. Depending on who you ask, the Code is either meant to be guidelines on how to be a good Jedi or strict rules. Although it is mentioned in the movies, the Code itself is not shown to the viewers and is first heard in full in the game. Based on the story of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the planned remake could highlight the importance of the code in a way that the original could not.

The story of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is easily one of BioWare’s best, as it is both simple and complex at the same time. In this classic game, we take control of a soldier who serves in the Old Republic and is force sensitive. The player character is eventually taken to the Jedi Academy on Dantooine, where they are taught how to use the Force. Here, Star Wars fans hear the Jedi Code in full for the first time. On Dantooine, players have to go around the area and pick up pieces of the Jedi Code from various non-player characters. To complete this part and move on, they have to memorize the entire code and recite it to one of the Masters. Later they can encounter its opposite, in the form of the Sith Code. However, once they get past Dantooine, there is no need for them to follow it in any way.

This is something that could theoretically be improved by the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic planned remake. Since it was announced, there have been problems with KOTOR remake development. Last year it was rumored that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake developers changed and one of the reasons they mentioned was that they wanted to make the game more spectacular. If true, the Jedi Code parts could benefit most from this shift in focus.

In the original game, the Jedi Code does not play as big a role in the main story as one might think. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is full of wonderful characters, but the various Jedi characters we encounter don’t really give us a hard time about the Jedi Code.
