If you are eagerly waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6, we have some bad news for you: you will have to wait for years. Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed at a court hearing that Bethesda’s game is still very far from completion. Moreover, it is not even certain that the game will be available on PlayStation consoles.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced five years ago at E3, but since then we have not learned much about it. We only saw a short video that showed a mountainous landscape, which is likely to be Hammerfell or High Rock province on the continent of Tamriel. The game’s music was also familiar to fans of the series, as we heard the well-known melody.

However, The Elder Scrolls 6 is still far from being finished. Spencer said this at a San Francisco court, when he was asked about Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. When asked if The Elder Scrolls 6 will be available on PlayStation consoles as well, Spencer said that Bethesda’s game is so distant that it is pointless to talk about what platforms it will be released on. He also added that The Elder Scrolls 6 is “a game that will be ready in five or more years”.

Spencer said that The Elder Scrolls 6 will only really start developing when Starfield comes out. Starfield is another ambitious sci-fi role-playing game from Bethesda, which has been in the works since 2015. Starfield’s release has been delayed several times, but it seems that we will finally get it in September 2023. Starfield will also be an Xbox and PC exclusive game, which means that it will not appear on PlayStation consoles either. Spencer justified this by saying that he wants to provide the full experience to players on Xbox.

However, Spencer did not rule out the possibility of PlayStation for The Elder Scrolls 6 as firmly. Maybe it was just courtesy on his part, or maybe they have not decided this issue definitively yet. Anyway, it seems that a lot of time will pass before we find out for sure.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is still under development. Fans have to be patient and hope that it will be worth the wait. Until then, they can stick with Skyrim or other similar games.
