The Movie Drive-Away Dolls Marks the Dawn of a New Era

CINEMA NEWS – More and more details are coming to light about Ethan Coen’s new film, Runaway Girls, which, like the previous works of the Coen universe, is difficult to classify in terms of genre: it is at the same time a road movie, a comedy-leaning thriller and a socially critical view of today’s public conditions.

Since 1984’s neo-noir masterpiece Bloody Simple, Ethan Cohen working with his brother Joel seems to have been a set rule, but now that’s changed the line-up: Joel is temporarily out of the picture. However, Ethan is not alone now. His new partner is his own wife, Tricia Cooke, with whom they have been together for 33 years now, through thick and thin. Tricia is listed as the editor and co-writer of Drive-Away Dolls, but Ethan Coen told World of Reel that his wife directed roughly half of the film, even though it’s not listed in the cast list. Drive-Away Dolls is the first part of a planned trilogy, so it is possible that the marital division of labor will also change, and Tricia will carve out an ever-larger slice of the creative pie for herself.

The cooperation of the Coen brothers has not ended anyway, more joint projects are on the horizon, while Tricia and Ethan go their separate ways.
