From a Negative Review to a Smash hit: this is the Journey of Blumhouse’s New Thriller, Five Nights at Freddy’s [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – From autumn, the thriller Five Nights at Freddy’s is showing in cinemas. Scott Cawthon’s world-famous video game of the same name, on which the film is based, was born out of a failure.

Cawthon’s previous video game promised family-friendly entertainment, where you had to run a logging business of cute teddy bears. However, the players in the main forums pointed out to the developer that the tree-eating teddy bears are mostly reminiscent of scary animatronic (i.e. remote-controlled robot) plush toys. Okay, I’ll give you scary animatronic stuffed toys, Cawthon thought, and came up with a video game called Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF), in which a night security guard battles the bloodthirsty stuffed toys that populate a closed pizzeria – formerly for the entertainment of pizza-eating children. The exciting game got several sequels and a series of books was made from it, building a separate universe around the cursed pizzeria. This franchise caught the attention of the studio Blumhouse, and a film was made, which carries the possibility of sequels.

The big question is whether Five Nights at Freddy’s will reveal the secret of what makes plush toys go crazy at night, or will it just slowly provide the answer in the sequels in order to build an independent universe on film as well.
