Quantum Error: One Console Version Is Scrapped, PC Version Planned [VIDEO]

Unsurprisingly, TeamKill Media has announced what we essentially suspected when the game was announced…

Quantum Error’s developer, TeamKill Media, announced on the game’s official Twitter profile (we won’t call it X just because it sounds stupid!) that the previous-gen version of the horror genre FPS is gone, so the studio will not be bringing the game to PlayStation 4 but will be releasing it on PC instead. TeamKill Media originally announced that they would develop the game for PlayStation 5 and then PlayStation 4, and even then, we suspected that the PS4 version would be killed off in time… and our suspicions have been confirmed. Since then, Quantum Error has been planned for the Xbox Series, too, so it’s become a real current-gen game. It’s about time: it’s been almost three years since PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series were released…

“Unfortunately, we must cancel the PlayStation 4 version of Quantum Error. Even with the game being made from the beginning for the PlayStation 5, we still hoped to make a PlayStation 4 version happen. Still, with the level of quality we have achieved with Quantum Error with gameplay running at 60 frames per second, we have concluded that there is no way for us to deliver a version on PlayStation 4 that would live up to what the PlayStation 5 will deliver. A PlayStation 4 version would require too much downgrading and changing assets, lighting, and more to function. With the difference in memory and the slower HDD speed, it would be a very different experience that will not compare to the PlayStation 5 version and would not be fair to PlayStation 4 players,” wrote the studio.

Quantum Error is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, and it’s becoming increasingly unusual that the game still doesn’t have a release date. It doesn’t even have a launch window, so we can’t be sure if it’s 2023. Or 2024… and their excuse is dumb. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will have a PC version without requiring an SSD, even though the devs said it was necessary.
