Before its release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gave players a glimpse into the many classic comic book villains that Peter and Miles will be battling.

 

 

The latest trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has just been posted online. Players can get a few glimpses of some of the iconic super-villains they’ll face. Insomniac’s latest superhero action game is less than a week away from release. The hype is only growing with the release of each new shot.

Recently, fans were treated to a short clip of Spider-Man in black and the Lizard boss battle, but Dr. Curtis Connors and his reptilian alter ego are just a taste of the enemies Peter Parker and Miles Morales will face in their latest adventure.

The game will also feature Venom, whose involvement in Insomniac’s growing Marvel gaming universe was hinted at in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man game. Early trailers also revealed that the equally infamous Kraven the Slayer is also heading to the open world of New York to test himself against the many super-beings. Later, Spider-Man 2 footage showed off some of these super-villains. For example, Marvel’s Spider-Man’s former foe, Martin “Mr. Negative” Lee. As well as Peter’s old NYPD ally Yuri Watanabe, who seems to have taken on the persona of the comic book vigilante Wraith after the events of the first game’s City That Never Sleeps DLC.

Recently, a new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launch trailer was uploaded to the official PlayStation YouTube channel. It highlights the game’s dark storyline ahead of its release on 20 October. In an intense montage of cutscenes and gameplay, Miles briefly battles Mr. Negative. Confirming that he will indeed confront the former member of the Sinister Six in the first game for his father’s death. Meanwhile, Peter finds himself face to face with Flint Marko, known to Marvel fans as Sandman. The sand super-villain has apparently grown huge, so Peter and Miles must wrap a net around him and dodge his powerful punches.

In the latest trailer, we see Peter’s further struggles with the mysterious Venom symbiote, which attacks and seems to slowly corrupt his once friendly neighbour Spider-Man. Miles Morales and Mary Jane Watson are also seen confronting Peter about his dark behaviour. Meanwhile, Norman Osborn and his forces seem intent on reclaiming the symbiote for their own ends.

Even if Peter manages to escape the parasite’s influence, he is seemingly bound to another person (believed by many to be Peter’s terminally ill friend, Harry Osborn), and thus this person will become Venom.

Although most of the main villains revealed in the final launch trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have either been confirmed or have been the subject of much speculation, their appearance in action against Peter and Miles will undoubtedly add to the hype surrounding the latest superhero Marvel game. Given their shared history, Miles’ battle against Mr. Negative promises to be an exciting and emotional encounter. While the fight between Spider-Man and the mighty Sandman is a stunning showcase of PlayStation 5’s graphical capabilities. Fans won’t have long to wait to experience these sinister opponents in action. The game is coming to PS5 later this week.
