Insomniac Games Responded To The Ransomware Attack

The studio released a short announcement.

On Twitter we can read what the team posted, which has been in the news a lot over the last week as the ransomware attack went unpaid, resulting in over one and a half terabytes of files being leaked from the Sony team, and consequently a lot of information about the studio’s plans. We’ve covered all of this, and there’s plenty to read.

But let’s see what Insomniac Games wrote: “Thank you for the outpouring of sympathy and unwavering support. It’s deeply appreciated. We are both saddened and angered by the recent criminal cyber attack on our studio and the emotional toll it has taken on our development team. We have spent the last few days focusing on supporting each other. We are aware that the stolen data includes personal information about our employees, former employees, and independent contractors. It also includes early development details on Marvel’s Wolverine for PlayStation 5. We continue to work quickly to determine what data was affected.

This experience has been extremely distressing for us. We want everyone to enjoy the games we make as intended and as our players deserve. However, like Logan…Insomniac is resilient. Marve’s Wolverine is moving forward as planned. The game is in early production and will undoubtedly evolve greatly as it develops, as all of our plans do. On behalf of everyone at Insomniac, thank you for your continued support during this difficult time,” the studio wrote.

So it’s a pretty bad end to 2023 for them. (The industry hasn’t really been busy with development this week, they’re definitely not going back to the studio between the holidays, and the first week of January will probably be even more relaxed…) Hopefully they will be able to get over this terrible situation as soon as possible, because they deserve to be happy, they are human beings and they have feelings too…

She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
