So Much For Greedy Steam Key Resellers: The Day Before’s Death Date Revealed!

Until now, we didn’t know when Fntastic’s game would be completely shut down, but now the picture is complete.

It was one of the more ridiculous stories of December, as the most wishlisted game on Steam launched in Early Access, but it didn’t take a week for the studio behind The Day Before to announce that it was over. This sounds ridiculous, not to mention what we reported yesterday: the game is no longer available on Steam, so the MMO can’t get new players.

Yes, but a lot of people have started reselling The Day Before’s unused Steam keys for many times the original price, which is stupid because the studio said when they announced the bankruptcy that the game’s servers would still be active, but since it’s an MMO, if the servers are down, the greedy people can’t do anything useful with the keys. And now for the final piece of the puzzle that makes the story even more of a joke.

Mytona, the publisher of The Day Before, let us know in a statement on Twitter that the game’s Steam code will be worth nothing in a month’s time: “Dear community, we regret to inform you that the development company Fntastic has officially ceased operations, and as a result, The Day Before will be retired and the servers will be shut down on January 22, 2024. As previously announced, Mytona, as an investor, has been working with Steam to facilitate refunds for all game purchasers. For all players who have not already received a refund, Steam will now proactively refund all remaining players. We would like to thank the community for their support throughout the life of the project. Unfortunately, without a development team, we had no choice but to officially close the project. We sincerely thank all of our supporters throughout this journey and wish you all a happy holiday season.”

Let’s have a round of applause for the end of the story.
