What to Expect from Xbox Game Pass in 2024?

2023 was one of the best years for Xbox Game Pass, and based on the current lineup alone, 2024 could easily be another great year for the service.

2023 may not have been the best year for Xbox first-party exclusives, and some highly anticipated releases ended up being a little disappointing, but that doesn’t take away from an overall excellent year for Xbox Game Pass. From amazing surprises like Hi-Fi Rush to first-party games like Starfield and Forza Motorsport that kept coming throughout the year, including some great third-party additions like Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Sea of Stars, and GTA 5, Xbox Game Pass delivered consistent quality throughout the year, making 2023 easily one of the best years yet.

But with 2023 well in the rearview mirror, it’s time to look ahead and see what Xbox Game Pass has in store for 2024. As it has every year since 2017, Xbox Game Pass continues to bring a handful of new games to the service each month, and while many games are kept under wraps until the last minute, several titles have already been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass 2024, and based on that alone, fans can look forward to another great year.

Xbox Game Pass has already confirmed a great early 2024 lineup

As in 2023, Xbox Game Pass also started the new year in style, providing a very outstanding line-up this January. In the coming weeks, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to enjoy massive titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Resident Evil 2 Remake, two games that have been highly anticipated for years. Promising indie sequel Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is also coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one this month, along with some other interesting smaller titles.

Still, January is just the beginning. While the vast majority of games have yet to be confirmed, February 2024 is already shaping up to be a good month for Xbox Game Pass, with three first-day releases including the long-awaited Persona 3 Reload, the remake of the 2006 classic, PlateUp! the frenetic cooperative cooking simulation and the narrative adventure game Open Roads starring Keri Russell and Kaitlyn Dever.

Huge games coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2024

But while January and February kick off the year in a dignified way, Xbox Game Pass keeps most of the most exciting releases under wraps – at least for now. There are currently just under 40 Xbox Game Pass releases with a tentative release date of 2024, and while some of those may be delayed, even just a handful could make 2024 one of the best years for Xbox Game Pass.

Obsidian’s long-awaited fantasy RPG Avowed currently has a 2024 release date, right next to the mysterious Ark 2 sequel. After years of trailers, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is finally coming to Xbox Game Pass this year, as is S.T.A.L.L.K.E.R. 2, which received numerous delays as many of the developers were forced to fight in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war. There are also plenty of promising indie games currently scheduled for Xbox Game Pass in 2024, including the Bladerunner-inspired Replaced, Harmonium: The Musical, and the horror game Still Wakes the Deep. And while there’s no guarantee that fans will be able to see it later this year if it’s released, Hollow Knight: Silksong is also coming to Xbox Game Pass.
