Monarch: Legacy of Monsters actor Kurt Russell has been in a relationship with the brothers’ mother, Goldie Hawn, since 1983. And according to Kate and Oliver, there’s a lot fans don’t know about the Hollywood icon. On Monday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Kate said, “He always finds himself in some sort of scenario.”

Oliver recalled some of Russell’s most bizarre stories, including when “he beat up Tex Watson, who was Charlie Manson’s right-hand guy.”

He also said Russell briefly crossed paths with Ted Bundy in June 1977 after Bundy escaped from the Pitkin County Courthouse in Aspen, Colorado, by jumping out of a second-story window.

“This is a crazy story,” said Oliver. “Kurt was camping, he had his plate of food, went to go get a beer or something, comes back and his plate of food is gone.”

“Ted Bundy then gets caught and recounts sort of how he survived after escaping and said he found a guy camping in the woods with his friends, he leaves the thing, and he grabs and eats his food,” Oliver continued.

By going to get a beer, Russell narrowly avoided a potentially dangerous confrontation with Bundy. The serial killer was on trial in Pitkin County at the time for the 1975 murder of 23-year-old nurse Caryn Campbell.

Bundy did not have to wear handcuffs or leg cuffs in court because he was representing himself at trial, so he was able to use the law library. Finally, he escaped by jumping out of a second-story window and headed straight for the mountains near Aspen, reports ABC News.

The serial killer broke into a log cabin while on the run from authorities for six days. And later he stole a car. Bundy was apprehended when a police deputy saw the car swerving down the road.

Although Russell and Hawn never married, Oliver and Kate, Hawn’s children with her first husband, Bill Hudson, refer to the actor as “Dad.”
