Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered: Aspyr Has Dumbed Down One Version! [VIDEO]

The difference between this version and the others regarding the first three adventures of Lara Croft released was incomprehensible.

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered was released on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. Only there was no parity between the versions available on the three platforms, because on the Epic Games Store it was BETTER! The whole thing was started by Maciej Wyżgowski on YouTube when he saw some great visuals on the Palace Midas level because the ceiling was missing. This was then picked up by @kroft_k on Twitter, where @Small_Medipack started a deeper analysis.

The Epic Games Store version featured 21 poses in photo mode, as well as improved textures, better snowflakes, and nicer water. YouTube’s The Sog did a comparison of the Greek map, which we’ve embedded below. On Discord, RedPanda imported the save from the Steam version into the Epic Games Store version. The control interface is visible, there are more poses, and the build of the game is different from what you see on Valve’s platform. What’s more, the bonus map All Hallows, which was left out of the Steam/GOG version, is also included in the modernized version of Tomb Raider 3 (you have to find all the secrets to unlock it, and it’s no easy task).

The only problem with the version released on the Epic Games Store was that the achievements didn’t work. Then Kotaku reported that it was no coincidence that the much better EGS build was different from the other two available on the other platforms. On Steam, Aspyr wrote that a developer build had turned up at Tim Sweeney’s, and that it had unfinished assets with unfinished material that didn’t meet their quality expectations, and they corrected that by pulling the better version. However, the first update is in preparation and will be released in the next few weeks.

Maybe this will bring improved textures, lighting, sky and secret track for everyone. That would be fair. Still, we have to wonder how someone could have been so careless?
