Final Fantasy XVI: There’s One Area Where The PC Version Is Sure To Surpass All Others…

Naoki Yoshida, the producer of Final Fantasy XVI, recently talked about the PC port, and it seems that the game will stand out in one area: the system requirements.

It is true that Square Enix could have released Final Fantasy XVI as early as 2024. But they warned even then that they would not rush the matter. Just yesterday we reported that Final Fantasy XVI on PC is closer than we thought. After all, the RPG is going through the last “phases of optimization”. It looks like we’ll have to wait a few more weeks for the RPG to debut on PC digital stores like Steam and Epic Games.

PC gamers are used to looking at the system requirements of the titles they want to buy. In this regard, Naoki Yoshida, the game’s producer, said in an interview with Game Informer that the requirements will be a bit high. “As for the current stage of development, we are now trying to work out the final phases of optimization.”

“That will determine when we can release the PC version – the system requirements and the PC specs that players will need, so that’s what we’re trying to figure out,” said the Square Enix creative.

He goes on to say that these will be high. “Of course, the PC requirements seem a bit high,” reads PC Gamer. Square Enix talked about the PC version of FF16 at the end of 2023. First of all, he recommended an SSD for the following reasons: “Even if we do our best to tune the GPU, it’s very difficult to use an HDD for Final Fantasy XVI, a game where load time is of the essence. We do everything we can to optimize, as much as possible, but we can’t do anything with hardware limitations alone, so please consider SSD as a necessity”.

How is Final Fantasy XVI doing?

It looks like the PC version of FF16 is shaping up nicely. The base game itself is very epic and spectacular but may be divisive for more traditional fans. Because it is extremely cinematic, you can sometimes feel the weight of 11 hours of motion pictures. This leaves its mark on the PC port as well. It might seem a bit simplistic and button-mashing, but the game makes sure to create a lot of great enemies and new abilities. Overall, it’s a game that feels very thoughtful and lovingly crafted.
