MOVIE NEWS – From today, Benedict Cumberbatch is the “new resident” of Madame Tussauds Budapest. The wax figure of the creator of Sherlock Holmes arrived in Dorottya Street from Vienna and will definitely stay for a few months. The United Kingdom Embassy, the Hungarian British Chamber of Commerce, and Cumberbatch’s permanent Hungarian voice, Simon Kornél, took part in the ceremonial handing over of Cumberbatch’s figure.

Most people know the English actor as Sherlock Holmes and as Doctor Strange in the Marvel series. Cumberbatch is one of the most sought-after British actors, to whom directors like to cast intelligent, upper-class, gentleman roles due to his appearance and distinctive voice. The British star is one of the main characters in Wes Anderson’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, which won a statuette in the best short film category at the last Oscar ceremony.

Benedict Cumberbatch himself participated in the process of creating the figure. Each wax figure is made over months in a special workshop of Madame Tussauds near London, with the involvement of craftsmen, artists and other professionals. In many cases, the subject himself cooperates with the crew, as did the English actor. Cumberbatch even attached a few strands of hair to his character’s head.

The figure of the actor was inaugurated at an event with a British atmosphere, which was attended by Paul Fox, the ambassador of the United Kingdom, and the Hungarian British Chamber of Commerce.

The wax figure sits on the arm of an armchair, so visitors can sit next to him and try out the interactive panels. Cumberbatch in 2015, the late II.
