Dragon’s Dogma 2: Players Complain, Capcom Responds With A Statement!

The Japanese publisher addressed several issues in its statement, which is understandable since the public didn’t have just one main problem, but complained about several elements of Capcom’s new game.

Dragon’s Dogma was released in 2012, so it’s been a dozen years since the sequel was released. The user reviews of Dragon’s Dogma 2 have gone towards review bombing because of the microtransactions that are already in the game, even though most of the items in question can be obtained through gameplay. The other main criticism is performance, and there are so many critical voices against the Itsuno Hideaki-directed title that Capcom had to respond with a release on Steam.

As for crashes and bug fixes, they are investigating/fixing critical issues such as crashes and freezes. They will address crashes and bug fixes starting with the highest priority in patches shortly. They are also looking into adding a feature to the Steam version of the game that will allow players already in the game to restart the game. (How is this not a standard feature in the game?)

All items listed below are available in-game or as paid DLC items. Art of Metamorphosis for the character editor, Ambivalent Rift Incense to change the inclination of the pawn, Portcrystal as a warp location marker, Wakestone to bring the dead back to life, 500/1500/2500 Rift Crystals as points to spend on Beyond the Rift, Makeshift Gaol Key to escape from the gaol, and Harpysnare Smoke Beacons as a Harpy lure.

As for performance, Capcom wrote: “In Dragon’s Dogma 2, a large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character, dynamically calculating the impact of their physical presence in various environments. In certain situations where a large number of characters appear at the same time, the CPU usage can be very high and affect the frame rate. We know that settings that reduce GPU load in these situations may have limited effect at this time, but we are looking at ways to improve performance in the future”.

The question is whether they will convince their audience with that much.
