Xbox May Enter The Virtual Reality Market?!

TECH NEWS – Meta has opened up its Horizon OS to other vendors, including Xbox, Levovo and Asus.

Today, only a few brands have fully entered the virtual reality sector. However, we’ve known for quite a few months now that Xbox has ruled out entering a market dominated by PlayStation, Meta, and Apple. Microsoft has made it clear that it would move if the popularity of VR increased significantly. We may not be there yet, but from now on, it will have its own little market niche, where we will see Xbox headsets on offer.

It turned out that Microsoft and Meta have teamed up, “Now, we’re working together again to create a limited-edition Meta Quest, inspired by Xbox”, the company writes on its official website.

They previously noted that the two companies “teamed up last year to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) to Meta Quest, letting people play Xbox games on a large 2D virtual screen in mixed reality.”

In addition, Meta has announced that it will open-source its operating system called “Meta Horizon OS”. Moreover, not only for regular brands but also for other brands, including Lenovo and Asus. Each will have “limited editions with different uses.” Mark Zuckerberg revealed several details in an Instagram post, where he wrote that this collaboration could include “a version that comes out of the box with Xbox controllers and Game Pass, so you can start playing right away on a big screen, wherever you are.”

Meta Horizon OS, a more open operating system for Xbox

The company wanted to clarify that Meta Horizon OS will be a more open system. The new system will continue to “provide more choices in accessing applications.” According to Meta, “There are many ways to access great content on Meta Horizon OS.” Among other things, “for popular game services such as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Steam”. Google Play 2D has also been invited to the OS. “It will be able to operate according to the same economic model as on other platforms”.
