Fallout: London Won’t be Available on one PC Platform for the Time Being! But Why?

After years of work, the Fallout 4 mod is missing from one of the PC stores for the time being, so if you want to play the London adventure as soon as possible, you’ll have to find an alternative!

In typical Bethesda Game Studios fashion, Fallout 4’s next-gen update continues to cause nothing but problems. Two years after it was announced, a 14GB patch was suddenly released in April of this year that did everything in its power to break the mods that were working. The timing ruined everything for Team Folon: they were just days away from the release of Fallout: London when Todd Howard’s suddenly pulled their calculations, forcing the team to delay the release to fix the bugs caused by the update.

We’ve written before about how GOG is already validating files, but the next-gen update means there are more bugs that modders can’t fix. Ultra-wide display support and VATS are also not working properly. Because of this, Team Folon has decided that the mod can only be played on the old Fallout 4, so if you have a version with the next-gen update, you’ll need to roll back to that first. This isn’t a problem for GOG, as it’s hosted by CD Projekt, and Valve is offering a similarly favorable situation on Steam (manual or tool-based workarounds are available).

The Epic Games Store was left off the list. There is no downgrade option there, as Tim Sweeney and his team do not support the withdrawal of updates. This leaves the Epic Games Store behind Steam and GOG in terms of functionality. All of this could have been avoided if Bethesda had been able to work with modders. They are the ones who can keep games alive long after their release. Now, only GOG and Team Folon can find a way to do this, so that Epic Games Store members are not left out.

It’s a strange situation.
