Despite the Complaints, Ubisoft Doesn’t Budge: No Delay for Star Wars Outlaws! [VIDEO]

After a 10-minute gameplay video of Massive Entertainment’s next game recently surfaced courtesy of IGN, it’s only caused more headaches for Ubisoft.

The video has received a lot of negative feedback. In the 24 hours since it was posted on YouTube, it has received 8,000 likes and 13,000 dislikes. But this has not deterred Ubisoft from its plans. The company is confident that people will love Star Wars Outlaws, and there are no plans to postpone it, so the target date will not be changed. Still, the impact of the negative reviews was so great that a financial analyst from Bank of America asked during the publisher’s quarterly earnings report if they had considered delaying the game. The answer was a resounding no, and according to Yves Guillemot’s company, more gameplay will be forthcoming and players can still expect “miracles”.

There have been instances in the past where Ubisoft has delayed a criticized game due to negative feedback, but with the production of physical copies of Star Wars Outlaws now underway, there is no turning back. There is unease about the future of the Star Wars franchise as all elements of the entertainment industry begin to emerge with many spin-offs and side stories, while others are excited about the possibility of entering the universe in a new way. According to the YouTube feedback, Ubisoft is back to the same open world experience, just dressed in a Star Wars garb. Others say that the visual effects conveyed in the gameplay video are below average, and when you’re this close to launch and see that beyond the not-so-polished environments and clunky AI, this game doesn’t paint a good picture. We can only hope that an early version was used for this recording.

The release date for Star Wars Outlaws remains unchanged at August 30th. It will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. Hopefully we’ll see it in a much more refined state at launch.
