Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster Collection: Coming Soon to Our Shelves!

Unfortunately, we’ll only be able to get the retail version on two platforms, but at least Square Enix is giving us that…

The bundle includes the first six episodes of the Final Fantasy series, of course, and perhaps that’s why the price is a bit steep, as the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions (which will be available in stores or via the Square Enix Store from October 8th) will be available for $75. So far, only a limited number of disc/cartridge versions have been available in the West, and they sold out almost immediately after the announcement…

Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster features 2D pixel art with beautiful but classic retro visuals, a remixed soundtrack under the supervision of original composer Nobuo Uematsu, and several new features. For the soundtrack, you can switch back to the old one if you prefer, there will be two fonts, you can turn off random encounters (but this is only recommended if you’ve done enough grinding and they’re just annoying), you can tweak the EXP gain (up to four times faster), which will shorten grinding considerably, you can make battles automatic with a single button press, and there are other extras. You can check out the monsters you’ll encounter (beastiary), view some illustrations in a gallery, and a music player feature will be included in the collection.

The Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster Collection will soon be available in larger quantities on Sony and Nintendo. We’ll also be able to use it on the PlayStation 5 thanks to retroactive support, but it’s a bit interesting how much Square Enix is charging for six games. Of course, they are charging relatively little for one title, and the game time is long enough for six games in total, but we are still talking about $75.

Just don’t run out of stock again.
