Baldur’s Gate 3 Surprises Continue to Unfold – Chefs should cook,” Says Baldur’s Gate 3 Developer

Larian Studios has confirmed that Patch 7 is not the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3. While cross-play and photo mode are still in development, other surprises are also on the horizon for fans.

Despite Patch 7 being available to PC players, console players on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 will have to wait a few more weeks. The Game of the Year 2023-winning fantasy RPG continues to expand, driven by its creators’ ambition and the enthusiasm of its community.

Many believed Patch 7 would be the last major update, but Larian Studios has clarified that this is not the case. “Patch 7 is not our final update. We are still working on crossplay,” says Larian, while Michael Douse, the studio’s head of publishing, adds, “Good news, everyone—this isn’t the final update!”

Douse explains further: “We’re not going to reveal everything that’s coming next for the game, as it would create undue pressure on our developers, but there are still things we’ve promised that are on the way. And chefs, well, they need to cook.” The next updates could include crossplay, photo mode, and possibly other surprises, although players are currently enjoying the official modding tools.

Baldur’s Gate 3 priced below its true value

Larian Studios’ head of publishing has also revealed that the game could have been priced higher but is being sold “below its value” to consider the cost of living. “A significant part of development costs is salaries. If a company is sensible, they can afford to raise salaries in line with inflation, even if this increases expenses and risks. Most AAA companies cut costs by playing it safe, but we believe in taking risks to create better games. That’s why we priced both Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 below their market value—because we care about people’s cost of living.”
