PlayStation has confirmed the DualSense features for Silent Hill 2 Remake and has also revealed the exclusivity period before it launches on other platforms. By “other platforms,” we mean that Silent Hill 2 could arrive in October 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, and possibly on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The remake will not be available on “other formats” for at least a year.
There are just over two weeks until Silent Hill 2 Remake releases, and fans of Konami’s survival horror are filled with anticipation. Developed by Bloober Team, the remake will reportedly take more than twice as long to complete compared to the original. As we approach the launch date, there are still some exciting details emerging, particularly about the game’s features and its timed exclusivity on PS5.
The latest trailer released by PlayStation showcases how the features of the PS5’s DualSense controller are designed to create a more immersive and terrifying experience on Sony’s console. For example, the haptic feedback will allow players to feel enemy attacks in melee combat, while the triggers will provide different levels of resistance depending on whether you’re using a pistol or a shotgun (via Gamespot).
Silent Hill 2 Remake’s PS5 Exclusivity Will Last for a Limited Time
In addition to the use of 3D audio and the changing colors of the DualSense’s light bar based on James’s health, a key detail is revealed at the end of the trailer: the exclusivity period for Silent Hill 2 Remake. At the very end of the video, it states: “Also available on PC. Not available on other formats until 08.10.2025,” which means that the game won’t be released on Xbox Series X|S or potentially Nintendo Switch 2 until that date.
Remember, Silent Hill 2 Remake will launch on October 8, 2024, for PS5 and PC. According to its creators, they are confident in “delivering a high-quality game.” The game will also include a ’90s filter that allows players to remove all interfaces and visual aids, making for a more immersive experience. The good news for fans is that more Silent Hill games are on the way, as Konami remains fully committed to the franchise.
