How Long Has Someone Subscribed to PlayStation Plus? You Might Be Surprised!

Someone thought they were preparing for the worst with Sony’s subscription service, because what they’ve done seems a bit post-apocalyptic…

With PlayStation Plus, Sony has been refusing to release subscriber data for quite some time now, which means it’s not that bright, because Microsoft also suddenly suspended Xbox One sales data, and since then the Redmond-based tech giant hasn’t released any such data, and they suspended it there, too, because the PlayStation 4 was laughing at the Xbox One’s results. Perhaps Sony is keeping it under wraps because it doesn’t want to embarrass investors by suggesting that demand for its three-tiered service (PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, PlayStation Plus Premium) isn’t growing steadily.

Lads, I did it. Subscribed to PS Plus until 2048.

But someone thought that they didn’t want to pay Sony more for PlayStation Plus later on for one reason or another. So they paid for the service up front. Well, from this picture, they only paid for PlayStation Plus Essential, so they missed out on the PlayStation 4/5 games catalog and the emulated PlayStation/PlayStation 2/PSP offerings, as well as the PlayStation 3 list that runs from the cloud. However, since that’s not the surprising thing, it’s how long he prepaid for: 24 years in advance. According to the post on Reddit, he has a subscription until June 2048, which he then upgraded to PlayStation Plus Premium, so he has access to everything.

Why did he prepay for so long? The answer is that he got tired of the frequent price hikes for PlayStation Plus, but he pointed out that Sony recently capped the upgrade at $200. So he preferred to play it safe and prepay now for as long as he wanted, so he wouldn’t have to worry about Sony holding his hand later.

But what will happen in 2048? Will humanity still exist? We have no idea. A lot could happen before then.
