Microsoft Confirms No World of Warcraft on Xbox Game Pass

A marketing email has revealed something that the Redmond tech giant might do in the future, and Microsoft is denying everything…

So the image below (taken from Reddit) was in a marketing email. The email summarized the latest news about World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment’s two-decade-old MMO. But it also contained a link for the reader to join Xbox Game Pass. The subject line was also decidedly suspicious: “Play Call of Duty, Diablo IV, World of Warcraft, and more of Activision’s biggest hits with Game Pass!” The screenshots of the email were then posted on Reddit, and there is no doubt that this is not a hoax email, and that Microsoft may have really made a mistake…

As a result, audiences were excited for Microsoft to officially announce that Blizzard Entertainment’s MMO would be coming to Xbox Game Pass (presumably at the most expensive Ultimate tier), and fans were also hoping that the veteran MMO would be coming to consoles. Unfortunately, Microsoft responded on Twitter: “This was a mistake on our part. Sorry for the confusion! Blizzard’s World of Warcraft was mistakenly included in a Game Pass email when it’s not available on the service – a correction email will be sent soon to those who received the original email.”

Of course, many of the responses included requests (almost begging) for World of Warcraft to be included in Xbox Game Pass, while others wrote that they had tried the MMO with a controller and found it to work well enough. The images that appeared in the promotional email were also suspicious, as they were related to the Plunderstorm event and featured classic Xbox and Game Pass themes alongside World of Warcraft.

Something is definitely brewing behind Microsoft’s doors, and it’s just a question of when this will become a Game Pass expansion…
