TECH NEWS – According to rumors, the South Korean company is planning to use even more advanced technology than that seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in its top model due next year.

Samsung recently announced the bulk of the Galaxy S25 lineup (as the Edge, the thinner-focused model, hasn’t reached the public yet). The flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra has a better display, but it also has its drawbacks (no Bluetooth in the S Pen). This could change with next year’s device, which could look different from the 2025 smartphones and could also be modified internally to be more appealing to those who choose the South Korean company’s device.

On Twitter, we read that Samsung is reportedly actively testing the under-display camera (UDC) technology in the Galaxy S26 Ultra to avoid a small notch at the top of the display and thus provide a more refined user experience for users. This could be the biggest innovation for next year’s top model. Having the sensor under the display means a larger and more usable display. Of course, this technology comes with more challenges.

As of today, the S26 Ultra’s UDC is undergoing testing. Work is in progress to improve image quality, with new technology expected to be implemented.

Samsung is already familiar with UDC. The Galaxy Fold products use this solution, but the display doesn’t seem perfect here, as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a pixelated view or a slightly lower resolution than the rest of the display due to the camera under the display. Samsung has also chosen to allow light to reach the sensor through the display, which has limited the quality of both the display and the camera. This is a shortcoming that the Galaxy S26 Ultra can get away with because Samsung is working on a more efficient system. But the South Koreans are not alone in the race for more advanced under-display cameras. Google is rumored to be using such technology for facial recognition in the Pixel 11.

The question is how Samsung will use this technology and whether it will be ready before the new development cycle. Will the company also use it in the Galaxy Z Fold 7?
