Hungarian E-Sports Women Prepare for the World Championships

A year ago, on the occasion of Women’s Day, the Hungarian E-Sports Association (HUNESZ) launched the Women’s E-Sports Division with the support of K&H, in order to pay special attention to the representation of female players and e-sports professionals on both the domestic and international scene. In 2025, the best female Counter Strike2 players will compete again, not only on the domestic field, but also at this year’s World and European Championships.

The first year of the Women’s E-Sports Division was dynamic and eventful. After the start in March 2024, diverse and exciting events awaited female players throughout the year. The Hungarian women’s Counter Strike2 national team achieved outstanding results between April and July at the 2024 IESF (International E-Sports Federation) World Championship, where they managed to take 5th place in the group stage in a strong field. In September, as part of the industry day events, Hungary’s first women’s competition, the Valorant 2v2 Spike Queen Challenge final, was organized, in which the best 4 female teams could compare their talents. In December, the Valorant 5v5 Charity Queen Challenge competition pitted teams of 5 against each other, and participants also contributed to an end-of-year charity initiative organized by Esport1.hu.

“In 2018, K&H was the first non-industry company to join the support of e-sports, so that domestic talents could show their commitment, determination, and excellent performance in this extremely dynamically developing sport in as many and higher-quality competitions as possible. At K&H, our corporate strategy includes ensuring gender equality and giving women the opportunity to develop and unleash their talents. We have also implemented this in the support of e-sports by creating the Women’s E-sports Division, so that women can develop themselves in as many ways as possible and show what outstanding performance they are capable of in such a sport that is fundamentally considered more masculine. We believe that the further successes of the division will serve to the delight of the entire gaming community” – said Horváth Magyary Voljč Nóra, Head of Communications at K&H Group.

A new era of women’s e-sports: exciting events and fierce battles

We can expect an extremely busy year in the field of women’s e-sports this year as well. In 2025, Counter Strike2 competitions will take center stage, which will be held as part of the K&H Hungarian National E-sports Championship.
Of course, international competitions cannot be missed this year either, including the Counter Strike2 women’s national team, which will be selected by a professional staff, and professional car racer Eszter Németh is also ready for the competitions in Asetto Corsa.

“The Women’s E-Sports Division proved in its first year that female players can have a right to exist in the domestic and international e-sports world. They have proven their talent and dedication with outstanding results, exciting competitions and an ever-expanding community. The goal of the Hungarian E-Sports Association is to continue supporting female players, providing them with the opportunity to develop and compete. The competitions organized by HUNESZ this year are particularly important, as the stakes are to qualify for the world championship, which is a huge opportunity for Hungarian women’s e-sports. And in order for the best talents to develop and represent our country on the international stage, it is essential to provide continuous support and development opportunities. The successes of the Women’s E-Sports Division are not only an inspiration for the players, but also strengthen the entire Hungarian e-sports community,” said Balázs Biró, Secretary General of HUNESZ.
